Professional Conduct

I am committed to offering breathwork sessions in a way that is safe, respectful, ethical, and professional.

My intention is to provide a supportive environment where you feel welcomed, heard, and treated with care, regardless of your background, beliefs, identity, or level of experience.

In my work, I aim to:

  • act with integrity, respect, and professionalism

  • provide services within the scope of my training, experience, and qualifications

  • communicate clearly about the nature of breathwork sessions, including potential benefits, risks, and limitations

  • support informed choice and respect your right to pause, adjust, or stop a session at any time

  • maintain appropriate professional boundaries at all times

  • treat your personal information and anything shared in session with care and confidentiality, except where disclosure is required by law or where there is a serious risk of harm

  • offer a trauma-aware, choice-based approach that honours your individual capacity and boundaries

  • continue to reflect on and develop my practice in order to support clients responsibly

If at any point I believe a service is not suitable for you, or that another form of support may be more appropriate, I may suggest an alternative approach or recommend that you seek advice from a relevant qualified professional.

‍ ‍

What You Can Expect

When working with me, you can expect:

  • to be treated with respect, dignity, and care

  • to receive clear information about the session process and what to expect

  • to have the opportunity to ask questions before or during your session

  • to be supported in making choices that feel right for you

  • to have your boundaries respected

  • to raise a concern if something does not feel right

‍ ‍

If You Have a Concern

I welcome respectful feedback and take any concerns seriously.

If you are unhappy with any aspect of my service, I encourage you to raise it as soon as you feel able. Wherever possible, I will do my best to listen openly, respond fairly, and work toward a suitable resolution.

‍ ‍

How to Make a Complaint

If you would like to make a complaint, please contact me directly by email and include:

  • your name

  • the date of the session or service

  • a brief description of your concern

  • what outcome or resolution you are seeking, if known

Email: Rebecca@hawthorn.nz

If you feel comfortable, you are also welcome to raise your concern in person or by phone first, but I may ask you to put it in writing so I can respond clearly and keep an accurate record.

What Happens Next

Once I receive your complaint, I will aim to:

  • Acknowledge your complaint within a reasonable timeframe

  • Review the information carefully

  • Respond respectfully and fairly

  • Work toward an appropriate resolution where possible

Depending on the nature of the complaint, a resolution may include:

  • clarifying a misunderstanding

  • discussing the concern further

  • offering an apology where appropriate

  • reviewing or improving my processes

  • refunding or partially refunding a fee where appropriate

  • deciding not to continue working together if that is in the best interests of those involved

Timeframes

I will aim to respond to complaints as promptly as possible. If more time is needed to consider the matter properly, I will let you know.

External Support

If you are not satisfied after raising your concern directly with me, you may wish to seek independent advice about other options available to you.

‍ ‍

Commitment to Fair Process

Any complaint will be handled with respect, privacy, and fairness.

Making a complaint will not be met with defensiveness or discrimination. My intention is always to approach concerns in good faith and to learn from feedback wherever appropriate.
